FAQ

Where is your office located?

I offer a hybrid approach and specialize in telehealth services from the comfort of your home.

We can start a video call from anywhere. Clients can engage in real-time in their home environment and interact through virtual activities.

Yes, you or your child can control the games or tasks. Working virtually also alleviates worrying about transportation (finding a ride, juggling schedules, and the price of gas are significant stressors) and alleviates lousy weather travel.

I also offer in-person therapy at a specified location if you are local to the Hampton Roads Area.

What are your hours?

I offer afternoon and early evening hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

How long are the sessions?
Sessions are 30, 45, or 60 minutes long.
Do you take insurance? Why or Why not?

I am private pay for all services. Without the middleman of the insurance company, therapy can be much more collaborative and functional. I utilize best practices regarding time, frequency, and modalities in therapy.

Professional judgment and the ASHA Code of Ethics always apply. Therapy can be written off on taxes at the end of the year as out-of-pocket medical expenses, and you can use HSA or HFA dollars for therapy.

How do I set up an initial appointment?

How exciting, you’re ready to start! The easiest way to set your appointment is to call (757) 529-0600 or email me at michelle@coastalstw.com.

What is your cancellation policy?

Once we begin working together, you must cancel 24 hours before your scheduled therapy session. I allow one last-minute cancellation before charging a $50.00 fee. I completely understand emergencies happen, and so they are considered on a case-by-case basis.

What kind of therapies and services do you offer?

I offer individual speech therapy for Virginia and North Carolina residents and social wellness groups nationwide.

My license allows me to offer individual speech therapy for children and adults in Virginia and North Carolina.

Social Wellness Groups are on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm (Eastern Time) for recovering brain injury patients.

What are the age ranges of your clients?

I work with ages six through adults.

Do I need to reside in Virginia or North Carolina to be a part of the brain injury social wellness group?

No. You can join virtually from anywhere in the U.S.

What’s the craziest way you’ve ever injured yourself?

YIKES! My mom wasn’t happy when I decided to give up ballet to play sports. Moms have an astute intuition! While playing Lacrosse in high school, I jumped to catch the ball, landed in a divot in the field, and rolled my right ankle badly.

The fall knocked me out cold for a few seconds, and my coaches wouldn’t let me stand up when I came around. I didn’t break my bone miraculously but pulled my ligaments to kingdom come. Going to prom in a boot was a hoot! LOL.

Dog or cat?
I am an animal lover, but I have two dogs.
Ice Cream or Snow Cone?
Ice Cream – definitely!
While walking: Music or Podcast?
I love both and I love to walk!
Netflix or YouTube?
I love Netflix and binge-watching my favorite shows.
