“Michelle is a miracle worker!! When my son was 2 years old we noticed speech difficulty. We were advised to wait till he was 3 and revisit the possibility of therapy then. When he turned 3 he was evaluated again, found to have a very significant impediment, and we started speech therapy immediately. They checked his hearing twice and found it to be perfect. No lip ties, no tongue ties, no cognitive problems. We were told by multiple specialists that it was just a problem with his brain misfiring, and if we modeled modeled modeled, and repeated repeated repeated, that he’d eventually get it worked out. Fast forward 5 years, several therapists later, and it was still the same. We stopped therapy and he learned to just tell friends he had a speech impediment when they couldn’t understand him. I worried all the time that he’d be bullied for it, made fun of, and even that it would follow him into adulthood. I thought this was just who he was going to be forever. That I would forever be translating what he said to friends and family who couldn’t understand him. We learned to live with it… got so used to it I didn’t think about it anymore. That all changed when God sent Michelle into our lives! She was so confident that she could help him out that I decided to give it a shot. We started therapy but I was honestly so skeptical that anything would work. How could it! He is 15 now.. isn’t it too late? As I would come to find out after the first session with Michelle: it’s never too late if you know what to do! I sobbed at his first session! I could not believe that in less than 15 mins with my son she was able to pinpoint exactly what his needs are, what so many therapists had missed, and start a plan to move forward with. She has been working with him for only a few months now, and we know he has a long road ahead, but his speech has already improved SO MUCH!!!! I’m completely floored! He walks out of therapy so proud to hear himself talking more “normal.” I truly never thought that fixing his speech would ever be possible. Michelle is seriously the rock star of speech!!!
