You hurt when your child hurts.
Hearing your child has a delay or a disorder with speech or language is worrisome, stressful, and raises many questions.
Will they fall behind in learning? Will it interfere in their everyday social interactions with others?
How much therapy will it require to help, and is it worth it?
I understand that knowing your child is having difficulty speaking, understanding concepts, and remembering new information can make you feel heartbroken, frustrated, and defeated.
Therapy IS worth it!
Your child may feel upset, sad, frustrated, angry, embarrassed, or shy. Simple conversations to express their wants and needs are hard, and others struggle to understand them. Following multi-step directions is difficult, and retaining new reading and writing rules is challenging.
I know this can be stressful, and you are not alone.
I will take good care of your child and you!
We work as a team to address goals in a fun, individualized, and interactive way. As a mom, I treat my patients and their families as I want others to treat my children and myself.
I work hard to set your child up for success from the first therapy session. We will use what they love to do, play with, or talk about to keep it fun and engaging while they work hard.
Is your son working on ‘R’? Let him bring his favorite Minecraft book, and we’ll find plenty of ‘R’ words. Is your daughter working on ‘K’? We’ll have fun playing fly swatter splat to distinguish between sounds. Are they struggling to follow multi-step directions and/or remember new information? We’ll use classwork or homework to take some pressure off and implement strategies to help!
I believe in play and using functional, everyday activities in therapy! Playing and working on what matters to them relieves stress from the thought of “doing a speech,” positively connects us, stimulates creative thinking and exploration, boosts self-esteem, and helps regulate emotions.
Speech therapy will be motivating and challenging.
Our treatment sessions run 30-60 minutes.
I offer two ways to meet – at a local library for in-person meetings – or if time and commute are a factor, teletherapy is an attractive and effective option!
Let’s work together and help your child thrive!
